Arrival
Upon your arrival in Beijing, our professional tour
guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer to
your hotel. |
| Day 02: |
Beijing
Visit the Great Wall, the Sacred Way and the Ming Tombs.

Great
Wall: One of the true architectural wonders of the
world. It was first built about 2500 years ago, during
the period of the Warring States, and was extended and
fortified by subsequent dynasties: Qin, Han and Ming,
the Great Wall extends to more than 5,000 kilometers.
Sacred
Way: A way lined with statues of dignitaries, as
well as huge elephants, lions, camels and horses, you
will encounter the marble tombs of the Ming Dynasty
emperors.
Ming
Tombs: 13 emperors of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644)
were buried here with their splendid treasures. |
| Day 03: |
Beijing
Visit the Forbidden City, the Tian'anmen Square and
the Temple of Heaven. Beijing
Duck dinner is served in the evening. (BLD)
Forbidden
City: Built between 1406 and 1420, the Forbidden
City was the palace of the emperors of the Ming and
Qing dynasties, a period extending over 500 years.
The atmosphere created by the many temples, halls
and courtyards - not to mention the colors of the
tiles, roofs and painted wood - is unique, leaving
you with a lasting impression of imperial China. The
palace has over 9000 rooms.
Tian'anmen
Square: The heart of urban Beijing and large enough
to accommodate an assembly of one million people.
It stands in front of the Forbidden City, at its north
the Tiananmen Rostrum, from which imperial decrees
were promulgated.
Temple
of Heaven: A masterpiece of architecture and landscape
design which simply and graphically illustrates a
cosmogony of great importance for the evolution of
one of the world's great civilizations, and had a
profound influence on architecture and planning in
the Far East over many centuries.

| Day 04: |
Beijing - Xi'an
Visit the Summer Palace. Take flight to Xi'an. Visit
the Ancient City Wall. (BL)
Summer
Palace: The best preserved and the second largest
royal garden in China, with a history of over 800
years.
Ancient
City Wall of Xi'an: One of the most important
landmarks of the Xi'an city, the best preserved, oldest
and largest ancient city defence system in China.

| Day 05: |
Xi'an
Visit the Terror-cotta Warriors, the Banpo Ruins and
the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. (BL)
Terra-cotta
Warriors: The greatest archaeological findings
of the 20th century, the army of terra-cotta warriors
and the bronze chariots entombed in vast underground
vaults at emperor Qin's tomb.
Banpo
Ruins: This excavated site of a village dates
back to 4500 BC and was discovered in 1953. The village
during this period was called Yangshao and 45 houses,
6 pottery kilns, 200 storage pits, 250 adult's tombs
and children's burial jars, 10,000 tools and utensils
were unearthed. The distinct culture of these villagers
was known as Yangshao culture.
Wild
Goose Pagoda: One of the most famous Buddhist
pagodas in China, first built in 652 in the Tang Dynasty,
the square, multistoreyed, brick structure is sixty-four
meters high. On a high mound, it seems to rise into
the sky.

| Day 06: |
Xi'an - Shanghai
Visit the Shaanxi historical Museum and the Great Mosque.
Take flight to Shanghai. Have city tours to the Bund
and Nanjing Road which is Shanghai's main shopping street.

Shaanxi
Historical Museum: The large-scale modern State-class
museum, it has a collection of 370,000 pieces of historical
relics, among which the most characteristic ones are
the bronze wares of the Shang (C. 17th-11th Century
B.C) and Zhou Dynasties (C.11th Century-256 B.C.),
the pottery figures of different dynasties, the tomb
frescoes, gold and silver utensils.
Great
Mosque: Covering an area of 12,000 square meters,
it is the best-known Islamic Mosque in Xi'an City.
It was built in 742 A.D. The distribution of pavilions,
halls, towers and platforms in the mosque is compact
and exquisite, blending the traditional architectural
styles of Islam and Han.
The
Bund: Which is regarded as a landmark as well
as the birthplace of Shanghai. With a length of 1
km, the bund is dotted with various grandiose, solid
buildings of western style dating back to the early
20th century.

Xi'an - Luoyang
Take the soft seat train to Luoyang.

Luoyang
Visit the White Horse Temple and the Shaolin Temple.

White
Horse Temple: The temple was built in AD 68 in
the Eastern Han Dynasty and was the cradle of Chinese
Buddhism.
Shaolin
Temple: In 495, when Bodhid 'harrna, a Mahayana
Buddhist, left Sri Lanka for China in the 6th century
and developed the Chun (Zen) Sect (a Chinese Buddhist
school). Shaolin boxing is characterized by "lifting
up leg as light as feather, kicking as heavy as Mount
Taishan; appearing as delicate as cat and as fierce
as tiger; proceeding like dragon, moving like lightning
and roaring like thunder;" and the difficulty
of distinguished attack from defense and constant
change.

| Day 09: |
Luoyang - Shanghai
Visit the Longmen Caves. Transfer to the airport for
flight to Shanghai. (BL)
Longmen
Caves: Craftsmen began work on Buddhist grottoes
in 494 when an emperor of the Northern Wei moved the
capital from what is now known as Datong (Shanxi Province)
to Luoyang. The artistry is therefore an extension
from Datong. The work at Longmen proceeded through
seven dynasties, and in more than 1,300 caves, there
are 40 small pagodas, and almost 100,000 Buddha statues
ranging in size from one inch to 57 feet.

Shanghai
Visit the Shanghai Museum, the Yuyuan Garden, the Yuyuan
Market and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. (BL)
Shanghai
Museum: A museum of ancient Chinese art museum,
was founded in 1952. With a collection of over 120,000
pieces of cultural relics in twelve categories, namely
bronze, ceramics, calligraphy, paintings, jades, numismatics,
furniture, seals, coins, sculptures, minority art
and foreign art, Shanghai Museum is especially famous
for its treasures of bronzes, ceramics and paintings
and calligraphy.
Yuyuan
Garden: Yuyuan Garden is characteristic of the
architectural style of the Ming dynasty. It is a private
garden in the southeast of Shanghai, with a history
of more than 400 years.
Oriental
Pearl TV Tower: Like the Statue of Liberty in
New York, Sydney Opera House and Eiffel Tower in Paris,
Oriental Pearl TV Tower is Shanghai's symbolic architecture
with a height of 468 meters.

Quotation Includes
1. The economy-class air charges
of the domestic flight or soft sleeper/seat train charge
between cities as specified in the itinerary.
2. The hotel accommodation
is based on two persons sharing one standard twin room with
private facilities in all relevant locations. If a single
client requests a twin room alone, the single room supplement
will be charged.
3. For the land tour in each
city, daily American breakfast is served in the hotel, and
Chinese lunch and/or dinner will be served with two cups
of soft drink outside the hotel. All meal arrangements are
served as the itinerary specifies.
4. Private transfers for you
and your party as a group between airports, train stations,
hotels and all sightseeing spots. Separate arrivals and
departures will incur extra charges.
5. One private English-speaking
guide and driver will accompany you on all normal sightseeing
tours in each city.
6. Entrance fees to the tourist
sites.
7. Should your tour include
a cruise, then the shore excursion in groups and activities
will be subject to the arrangements made by the cruise company.
8. China Life Tourist Accident/Casualty
Insurance. We highly recommend that you purchase full coverage
travel insurance from you country of origin.
9. The Tibet Travel Permit
application fee applicable if your tours include Tibet.
