Solitary Beauty Peak
Solitary Beauty Peak abruptly rises, steep
and precipitous, in Jing Jiang Princely Mansion in the city
and has long beencalled, "a pillar holding up the Southern
Sky". Lying at the south-east foot of the peak,Du Shu
Cave (Study Cave) where Yan yanyan, a man of letters of
South and Song Dynasty, once did his reading, is the oldest
famous relic in GuiLin of a well-known figure. Yan wrote,"Amid
Guilin rises the solitary beauty peak, so towering that
no peak is like it". From then on the hill has been
known as the SMiao Nationality Six-Strand Straw Shoes Keepsakes
of the girls of the Miao nationality to their lovers. Usually,
the straw shoes are made of four strands at the sole but
tak (Du Xiu Peak). In glow of dawn or sunset, the peak seems
to be wearing a purple gown with a golden girdle. So it
has another name for it: Purple Golden Peak.
