Yunnan Ethnic Villages
 |
For a long time, the numerous ethnic groups,
the long history ,the exotic customs, the peculiar residential
architecture, the beautiful landscape and the interesting
legends of Yunnan have attracted and haunted many people.
However, visitors from far away find it difficult to cover
the whole province during their short stay. Intended to
cope with this situation and epitomize all these in the
landscape on the Dianchi Lake in Kunming, Yunnan Ethnic
Village has managed to represent and exhibit the history,
the cultures, the customs and the natural village houses
of the 26 nationalities in this province. With the inclusion
of precipitous hills and beautiful lakes, parks and woods,
old and modern treasures, and as an integration of the customs,
cultures, music, songs, dances, religious and architecture
of the 26 nationalities, the village community has helped
to show the world the true nature of Yunnan, a mysterious
yet modern garden of ethnic cultures. Now, the community
has been approved and named by the State Nationality Commission
and the Provincial Nationality Commission as one of their
" National Culture Bases".

an area of 1,340 mu. The whole community will contain 26
villages, and so far the Dai Village, the Bai Village, the
Yi Village, the Naxi Village, the Wa Village , the Jinuo

the community was selected as one of the major exhibition
sections for the Third China National Art Festival and received
visitors to the festival from home and abroad. That year
its domestic and overseas visitors amounted to more than
1.6 million. In the past years, it has admitted many state
and CPC leaders and numerous visitors from the United States,
